Meals = 2.5, Dims = 96
That means I've only spilled food two and a half times per ninety-six meals. Not bad eh? The point five is because I lost control of the food but it didn't actually fall on my clothing. Considering almost everything here has a drippy sauce of some kind, I'm so proud. Mr. Chirpneatly (who never spills food and if he did - who could tell on a tie-dye shirt anyway?) is also proud. He can take me places! Many a dinner out and social whirl happened in the last week. We went back to Le Dupliex with this lovely couple - Saumya and Shmula:
Remember the tapestry shown behind them?
I had to get some close-ups this time.
Then, another night we went to dinner with Vasantha and Satheesh - who turned out to know people that we knew. Pondicherry is a small town after all. Here they are with Mr. Chirpchatty.
Tonight is our last night in Pondy before going back to Chennai for a week for the last of Mr. Chirpbusy's business. We're going out with another couple that we've met before. The wife of the couple has been very very helpful to us several times so I decided to make her a small thank you. It's a cathedral window pattern pincushion - all sewn by hand. I don't recommend making it in silk dupioni and silk chiffon, but I wanted to use local fabrics.
I used to make a lot of these for craft fairs in the old days.
Now it's time to rehabilitate the socks I brought. Size zero is not the best size to be learning a fair isle pattern on when you're a tight knitter. Thought I had the gauge right but it turns out I couldn't get my hand through the patterned part - let alone a foot. Why rip completely when the gusset looks good and there is no unsightly hole at the apex? So....first the delicate operation to separate the conjoined twins from the two circular needles.
Picked up all stitches in the row below the motif, snipped a stitch in the second row above the pickup row - carefully picked out the row and...we have separation.

Congrats on the no-spillage record, dear. Few of us have the nerve to blog about something so fun as this. (At the Guild potluck the other night I squirted watermelon (I thought I'd be safe with watermelon, for Pete's sake) all over my white shirt. So I had pink spots on me the rest of the evening....Bahhumbug, indeed.)
Fab job on the socks, ElK. But no more purple? It's such a lovely color and contrast was exquisite--have never tried duplicate stitch on socks before so I will be interested in how this will work. Maybe you could put on purple toes? Although, you've probably already finished the sock by now, so this may be a moot suggestion. Next time fair isle sections with a larger needle perhaps?
Frost on the ground this a.m. -- brrrr! But not as cold as in Wisconsin last weekend. Everything here is all Christmassy and reading your entries is a small respite from the massive Christmas "cheer" all over the place here. Although, in keeping with the season, I haven't been refusing the eggnogs with brandy Parker has been serving up when I've gotten home from work this week!! EmBe
Love the rehabilitated socks but, as EmBe said, miss the purple. Now I'll get ready to meet with EmBe and the rest of our Friday Knitters. Life is good but we miss you. Really really miss you. Hugs to you and Mr. Thanks for the updates! Ar

I forgot... That little pincushion is adorable!!! You need to start making those again it is so cute. I love the color too and I'm not an orange person, it's just lovely. But then what else would I expect from you?
Hey, elKe, the pincushions looks wonderful! How about giving a class when you get back.
Missing you guys.
